This kit is a Piece of History in outstanding condition. Colors and patches are like new. An extremely rare Donis official name print is also a key feature. For the record, Donis was the first Greek player to play in the English Premier League.

So who is ''The Train'' Georgios Donis ?

He embarked on his professional journey with PAS Giannina in 1990, and following a highly productive year, he transferred to Panathinaikos.

The devoted Panathinaikos supporters, known for their penchant for nicknames, affectionately dubbed him "The Train" due to his remarkable speed and acceleration.

On June 5, 1996, following his instrumental role in helping the Greek club reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, where they faced Ajax FC, Donis made a noteworthy move to Blackburn Rovers. The transfer was completed for a groundbreaking sum of 1.1 billion drachmas, setting a new record for Greek players at that time.

During his stint at Blackburn, he had a somewhat unpredictable season but managed to score against Everton and Coventry City.

Subsequently, he returned to his homeland to play for AEK Athens before making a comeback to England, where he played for Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town, ultimately concluding his professional career.

In the 1996-1997 season, Blackburn Rovers participated in several competitions. Here's a summary of their performance in the major competitions:

  1. English Premier League: Blackburn Rovers finished in the 13th position in the Premier League during the 1996-1997 season.

  2. FA Cup: Blackburn Rovers reached the fourth round of the FA Cup.

  3. League Cup (Football League Cup): Blackburn Rovers were eliminated in the third round of the League Cup during the 1996-1997 season.

Some of the notable players for Blackburn Rovers during that season included:

  1. Alan Shearer: Alan Shearer was a key player for Blackburn Rovers. He was a prolific striker who had played a crucial role in Blackburn winning the Premier League in the 1994-1995 season. Shearer was known for his goal-scoring ability and continued to be an important player for the team.

  2. Tim Flowers: Tim Flowers was the goalkeeper for Blackburn Rovers during this season. He was a reliable presence in goal and had a good reputation as a shot-stopper.

  3. Colin Hendry: Colin Hendry was a central defender and an important part of the Blackburn Rovers defense. He was known for his defensive skills and leadership on the pitch.

  4. Chris Sutton: Chris Sutton partnered with Alan Shearer up front. Sutton was another forward who contributed to the team's attack.

  5. Graeme Le Saux: Graeme Le Saux, a left-back, was a key part of the defense and contributed to the team's attacking play with his overlapping runs.

While Blackburn Rovers didn't have the same level of success as they did in their title-winning season in 1994-1995, these players were still influential in the squad.
