The England 2008 Away kit (Youth XL), in its distinctive red colorway, was released during a transitional period for the national team. Designed by Umbro, the shirt featured a striking star above the crest commemorating England’s 1966 World Cup triumph, along with bold navy and white details across the chest and sleeves.
This kit was worn during England’s campaign to qualify for Euro 2008—a campaign that, unfortunately, ended in disappointment as the Three Lions failed to reach the tournament, leading to manager Steve McClaren’s dismissal. Despite the underwhelming results, the shirt remains a fan favorite due to its sharp, modern design and breathable mesh panels on the back that reflected advances in performance wear of the late 2000s.
The youth version preserved all these professional features in a tailored fit, making it a popular collector’s item today.
