FC Ingolstadt 2004/06 Training Hooded Jacket XXL
Condition: ★★★☆☆
An extremely rare and unique piece. On the back it writes ''ORDNER'' which means steward in German nodding that it may have been from inside the team staff. The size is XXL and it was manufactured by Errea. Have in mind that the club was founded in 2004 so this is actually their first ever line of jackets. Perfect for cold days too.
FC Ingolstadt is a German football club with an interesting history and several notable facts. Here are some key points about the club:
-
Founded in 2004: FC Ingolstadt was established in 2004 as a result of a merger between two local clubs, ESV Ingolstadt (founded in 1910) and 1. FC Ingolstadt (founded in 1964). This merger was aimed at creating a stronger, more competitive football team for the region.
-
Rise to the Bundesliga: One of the most remarkable aspects of FC Ingolstadt's recent history was their rise to the Bundesliga. In the 2014-2015 season, they earned promotion to Germany's top division for the first time in the club’s history, finishing 2nd in the 2. Bundesliga (second tier). They were promoted alongside Darmstadt 98, marking a milestone for the club.
-
The Audi Connection: Ingolstadt is home to the headquarters of the automobile manufacturer Audi, and this connection has played a role in the club's growth. Audi has been a major sponsor and supporter of the club, helping with financial backing and offering resources that allowed them to compete at a higher level in German football.
-
Stadion an der Schanz: The club plays its home matches at the Stadion an der Schanz, which has a capacity of around 15,000 spectators. The stadium has been the club's home since its opening in 1963 and is located in Ingolstadt, a city with a population of over 130,000.
-
Short Bundesliga Stint: After securing promotion in 2015, FC Ingolstadt remained in the Bundesliga for three seasons (2015–2018). They achieved respectable mid-table finishes but were relegated back to the 2. Bundesliga in 2018 after finishing 17th in the Bundesliga standings.
-
Strong Defensive Record: Known for their solid defensive approach, FC Ingolstadt has often been lauded for their tactical discipline, especially during their time in the Bundesliga. This defensive strength has earned them a reputation as a tough team to break down, even when playing against larger, more established clubs.
- Club Colors and Nickname: The team’s colors are red and black, and they are commonly referred to as the "Schanzer". The name "Schanzer" is a reference to the historical term for soldiers from the region, symbolizing their fighting spirit on the field.
