Greece's performance in the 2012 UEFA European Championship, commonly known as Euro 2012, was somewhat mixed. The Greek national football team, also known as the "Ethniki," had its moments but ultimately did not have a very successful tournament.
In the group stage, Greece was placed in Group A alongside Poland, the Czech Republic, and Russia. They started the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Poland and then suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Czech Republic. Greece faced Russia in their final group stage match and managed a surprising 1-0 victory, which allowed them to progress to the knockout stage.
In the quarter-finals, Greece faced Germany and was defeated 4-2, ending their journey in the tournament. While they managed to reach the knockout stage they were eliminated by a strong German team.
