Simple and Iconic. Chivas wore this beautiful fanela in the 2016/17 season manufactured by Puma. This one is in excellent condition and size Medium.

On September 18, 2015, the team formally introduced Matías Almeyda as their new manager, with the declaration that he aimed to "awaken the giant." Almeyda wasted no time in showcasing his attacking football philosophy, securing victories in his initial four matches, notably triumphing over rivals Club América with a 2-1 score at the Estadio Azteca on September 26, 2015.

Chivas made history on July 10, 2016, when they competed in their first Supercopa MX match. They clinched the title by triumphing over Veracruz with a score of 2-0, with goals from Orbelin Pineda and Omar Bravo.

This victory also earned them a spot in the Copa Libertadores for the first time since 2012. However, they later had to forgo their participation because the Copa Libertadores underwent a format change that Mexican teams couldn't conform to, leading to their withdrawal from the competition.

  • On April 19, 2017, Chivas secured their fourth Copa MX title. They achieved this by defeating Monarcas Morelia in a penalty shoot-out with a 3-1 score after a goalless draw. Miguel Jiménez, Guadalajara's goalkeeper, played a crucial role by saving three consecutive penalties during the shootout.

  • In the subsequent month, Chivas faced teams like Atlas and Toluca. They also participated in the Clausura championship final against Tigres UANL. In this final, Guadalajara emerged victorious with an aggregate score of 4-3 after two legs.

  • With their Liga MX title victory, Chivas made history by becoming the first team in Mexican history to achieve a Double (winning both the Copa MX and Liga MX) in a single season on two different occasions. This accomplishment was the first of its kind since the 1969-70 season.

Some of the key players for Chivas during that season included:

  1. Orbelín Pineda: Pineda was a dynamic midfielder and played a significant role in Chivas' midfield. He was known for his work rate and ability to contribute both defensively and offensively.

  2. Omar Bravo: As a veteran striker, Bravo provided valuable experience and was known for his goal-scoring abilities. He contributed to the team's success, particularly in the Copa MX.

  3. Miguel Jiménez: The goalkeeper Miguel Jiménez played a crucial role in Chivas' Copa MX victory, especially in the penalty shoot-out in the final. His penalty-saving skills were instrumental in securing the title.

  4. Alan Pulido: Pulido, a talented forward, was an essential part of Chivas' attacking force. He played a crucial role in their Liga MX victory, contributing with goals and assists.

  5. Rodolfo Pizarro: A Mexican professional footballer who primarily played as a midfielder.
