Hoffenheim's success has been partly attributed to the significant financial backing of billionaire Dietmar Hopp, who is one of the co-founders of software company SAP. Hopp's investments have played a crucial role in the club's ascent through the German football pyramid.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is based in the village of Sinsheim, which has a population of around 36,000. The club's rise from the lower divisions to the Bundesliga was meteoric, considering the size of its hometown.

Hoffenheim's performance during the 2015/16 season in all competitions was as follows:

  1. Bundesliga (German top-flight league): Hoffenheim finished in 15th place in the Bundesliga during the 2015/16 season. They accumulated 37 points in 34 matches, which was enough to secure their place in the top division for the following season.

  2. DFB-Pokal (German Cup): Hoffenheim was eliminated in the first round.

Some of the key players for Hoffenheim during that season included:

  1. Kevin Volland: The German forward was one of the standout players for Hoffenheim. He was known for his pace and goal-scoring ability.
