Born in Gijón, Spain, he developed through Sporting Gijón's esteemed youth academy, where he honed his craft before making an impressive debut in La Liga at the tender age of 18.

Muñiz transferred to Gimnàstic (2016-2018), playing 62 matches and netting 6 goals, before moving to Lugo (2018-2019), where he made 21 appearances and scored once. He then joined Volos (2019-2020), contributing 28 appearances and 5 goals, followed by a successful stint at Atromitos (2020-2022) with 65 appearances and 9 goals.

In 2023, he joined Johor Darul Ta'zim, quickly making his mark with 29 appearances and 11 goals.
