An iconic kit in excellent condition that screams nostlagia. This kit was manufactured by Nike for the 2002 World Cup. The size is Large. The national flag prior to the current one, used before 1910, featured blue and white. These colors are often associated with Portuguese maritime history and the Age of Discoveries, when Portugal was a leading seafaring nation.

Portugal's performance in the 2002 FIFA World Cup was disappointing. They were eliminated in the group stage despite having a talented squad. Here are the details of their matches in the tournament:

  1. Portugal vs. United States: Portugal lost 3-2. The U.S. team scored three goals in the first half, and despite Portugal's efforts to come back, they couldn't equalize.

  2. Portugal vs. Poland: Portugal won 4-0. This was a strong performance, with Pauleta scoring a hat-trick and Rui Costa adding another goal.

  3. Portugal vs. South Korea: Portugal lost 1-0. Needing at least a draw to advance, Portugal was defeated by the co-hosts, South Korea. They played much of the match with ten men after Joao Pinto was sent off.

Portugal finished third in their group, behind South Korea and the United States, and did not advance to the knockout stages. This early exit was considered a significant underachievement given the high expectations for the team.

During the 2002 World Cup, Portugal had several key players who were well-regarded both domestically and internationally. Some of the notable players included:

  1. Luís Figo: One of the most prominent Portuguese players at the time, Figo was known for his dribbling skills, vision, and ability to create scoring opportunities. He was playing for Real Madrid during the tournament and had previously won the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 2001.

  2. Rui Costa: An influential midfielder, Rui Costa was known for his playmaking abilities and vision on the field. At the time, he was playing for AC Milan and was considered one of the top midfielders in Europe.

  3. Pauleta: A prolific striker, Pauleta scored a hat-trick in Portugal's 4-0 victory over Poland. He was known for his goal-scoring prowess and was playing for Bordeaux in France during the tournament.

  4. Nuno Gomes: A forward known for his goal-scoring ability, Nuno Gomes played for Benfica. He was expected to be one of the main attacking threats for Portugal.

  5. Hélder Postiga: A young forward with great potential, Postiga was playing for FC Porto. He was seen as one of the future stars of Portuguese football.
