Nikos Tsoumanis

Nikos Tsoumanis (June 8, 1990, Gardiki – October 5, 2021, Kalamaria) was a Greek footballer who played as a defender.

Football Career

Tsoumanis began his career in the youth academies of Makedonikos, where he played in the third division for a year until 2010. During the 2008-2009 season, he mainly participated in the Youth Championship and also played in two matches in the Super League. Additionally, he represented Greece at the U-21 level.

In the summer of 2012, he transferred to A.O. Kerkyra before going to Skoda Xanthi, and in July 2013, he signed with Aris Thessaloniki. A year later, he moved to Panthrakikos. In September 2015, he returned to Thessaloniki to play again for Aris.

National Team

Tsoumanis was a member of the Greece U-21 national team, participating in various international tournaments and qualifiers.

Death

Unfortunately, Nikos Tsoumanis was found dead in the early hours of October 5, 2021, by police at the Marina of Nea Krini in Kalamaria, inside his car. The cause of death was reported to be drowning. His passing caused sadness in the football community, recognizing his contributions and talent in the sport.
